Terms of service
These terms cover what you're buying, what you can do with it, and what it isn't. Plain English on purpose — a page nobody can read protects nobody.
By buying from this store you're agreeing to them.
Who you're buying from
Retirement In Order is a sole proprietorship based in California, reachable at support@retirementinorder.com.
Orders and prices
Prices are in US dollars. Placing an order is an offer to buy; the order is accepted when we send the confirmation email. We can decline an order if a product is mispriced or unavailable, and if we do, you're refunded in full and told why.
Printed books ship to US addresses only right now. Digital downloads work anywhere.
Sales tax is added where we're required to collect it, which currently means California.
What you can do with what you buy
Every digital product is licensed to you for personal and household use, and that license is permanent.
Yes: - Print as many copies as you want, forever. - Fill one in for yourself, your spouse, each of your parents, anyone you're caring for. - Put copies in a binder, give one to your executor, hand one to your attorney or your doctor. - Store the file on your own devices and backups.
No: - Reselling the file, in whole or in part, anywhere. - Sharing the download link publicly, or uploading it to a file-sharing site. - Repackaging the pages into another product, free or paid. - Using it as a client deliverable in a paid practice without a commercial license. Email us for one — they exist and they aren't expensive.
We keep the copyright on the designs and the wording. You keep everything you write in the fields.
What these products are, and what they are not
The planners, organizers, and books are organizational tools. They record where things are and who to call. They are not legal, financial, tax, or medical advice, and buying one does not create any kind of professional relationship.
A filled-in End of Life Planner is not a will. It doesn't replace a will, a trust, an advance directive, a power of attorney, or any document that has to be executed under your state's law. It is the thing that tells your family those documents exist and where to find them. For the documents themselves, see an attorney in your state.
We check our facts against primary sources and date them, and rules still change. Verify anything time-sensitive — enrollment windows, dollar thresholds, filing deadlines — against the agency's own site before you act on it.
Delivery
Digital products download immediately after payment and the link is also emailed to you. If it doesn't arrive within an hour, check spam, then email us and we'll send it manually.
Printed books are made to order. Production takes a few business days before shipping, and the tracking number is emailed when the order actually ships.
Refunds
Covered in full in the Refund & Return Policy.
Liability
We're responsible for delivering what you paid for, and we'll make it right if we don't. Beyond that, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the product in question.
We're not liable for decisions made using these tools, or for consequences of information that was accurate when published and later changed. You're the one who knows your situation; the planner is stationery with good instructions.
Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.
If something here doesn't hold up
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Governing law
California law governs these terms, and disputes belong to the state and federal courts serving California.
Changes
We can update these terms. The date below tells you when we last did. Changes apply to orders placed after that date, never retroactively.
